So, a few weeks ago I got a phone call from a woman I’ve admired (idolised? crushed-on? stalked?) for the past two years – Taryn Brumfitt from The Body Image Movement. She was heading off to promote her new book, Embrace Yourself, to regional Australia. Unfortunately her event coordinator had to cancel due to family commitments. She needed someone to help with the logistics, joining the 7 day epic adventure – could I drop everything and come along? It took me about 15 seconds to reply with a HELL YES!
So, here I sit at the Brisbane airport, awaiting my flight to Melbourne to join the BIM crew and start spreading some body loving joy to Albury, Bathurst, Wollongong, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Armidale and Toowoomba! I’m teetering between exuberance and anxiety. A week of being surrounded by phenomenal, game-changer women sounds like pure bliss. The pressure of wanting to live up to expectations is making me nervous. I’m not an anxious person by nature, so it’s an unfamiliar feeling for me. But I’m always up for new experiences, so anxiety is welcomed for a while.
All morning I’ve had texts and messages from my ‘village’ of beautiful friends, who seem almost more excited than I am for my adventure. How lucky I am to be supported by family and friends who are so generous and kind.
The schedule ahead is hectic and action packed, however I’m going to commit to publishing a blog each day to track the experience. Stay tuned – I have a feeling there will be plenty of fun ahead…
Side note – This moment I got a notification from Facebook that I’ve been recognised as a top fan of Taryn’s Facebook page! Seems appropriate!
